When China can really grow up?

China's history during 1840 to 1949 is full of shame and oppress.
On June 28 1840, the First Opium War between China and Britain broke out since some of the officials from government banned opium in certain part of China . The war continued until August 1842. The result was the come up of Nanjing Treaty in which it declared that HongKong was part of Britain and China should pay Britain 21million yuan.
On October 1856, the Second Opium War between China and the unite army from Britain and France broke out because some evil countries wanted to get more benefits from China. The war continued until 1860. The result was another unfair treaty named Tianjing Treaty. Of course according the treaty the Chinese government had to paid a lot of gold and silver and gave those countries rights of several cities. The most horrible thing was not just the treaty. The enemies did kinds of bad things which were incredible for human beings to think of and they robbed and burned the YuanMing Park which was full of treasures and jewelries.
On July 4 1871, Russia invaded YiLi and killed lots of local people and individually declared that it was their land forever. On October 31 1871,Beijing Treaty between China and Japan was formed. On 1876, Yantai Treaty was formed. On April 17 1895, Maguan Treaty between China and Japan was formed. On September 7 1901, Xinchou Treaty was formed.
I cannot write down more treaties any more although there are still a lot which were all unfair. It is definitely correct to say that Chinese people were robbed and oppressed by others for centuries.
Until 1949, the new Chinese government was founded and Chair Mao announced that Chinese people have stood up. However, do Chinese people really stand up since 1949. In 1950, American army invaded north Korean and threatened the new formed Chinese government since China and north Korean were separated by just a river. So the People's Army went to north Korean to fought the American. In 1962, the war between China and India broke out in southwestern part of China. India got a lot support from two super countries at that time. From 1950 until 1985, the relationship between China and Russia was deteriorated. The two countries put millions army in the border. The war may break out at any time. Although China mainland was unified, Taiwan had not been unified for half a century already. The Xizang independence problem had not yet been solved. The Europeans and American tried every efforts to prevent China to become one of the most powerful countries in the world. They spread the ridiculous message that China is a threat. So whenever China did some activity with high technology, they told the world that China was doing something bad. I don't understand why they don't allow others to do it except themselves. Japan was even more cheeky. Not only the Japanese government didn't confess the sin, but also the Japanese government always tried to hide the truth and cheat their people. What makes feel uncomfortable is that why other countries would like to be so ironhearted to a country with a history full of unfairness.
Maybe the world is just like that. There is no love between different countries. Sometimes they do good things just is because they want to be known as kind or for their own interest. The only way to gain respect is be more powerful and much stronger. I'm waiting for that day to come!

How can we achieve life-long happiness

People had been looking for true happiness since the day they realized their existence in the world. However, happiness is a kind of temporary reaction from nerve impulse. It is impossible to keep happy for your entire life unless you are sick because of the infection of certain virus. But what I'm going to talk here is not the real happiness defined by scientist. It is an inner state of what people feel. So how can we achieve life-long happiness?

To answer the question, we must find the reasons why people are not happy and happy. The reason for unhappiness is that there are too many things that we are not able to control and out of our expectation. The reason for unhappiness is that we haven't realized that there is always a choice for us to choose. The reason for unhappiness is that people make themselves despair and think more about the bad size but ignore the bright size. The reason people are happy is that people feel satisfied and comfortable about what happened around them and what happened to them. The reason people are happy is that they find they achieve or get what others cannot achieve or get. It may be a target or object. The reason people are happy is that they make themselves special and different from others. It it a kind of self value realization or identify. After aware of these reasons, it is not impossible for us to keep happy everyday. Actually we can simply keep a good inner state to achieve life-long happiness. Then how can we keep a good state everyday? That's most important part.

To keep a good state, firstly, we need to improve our knowledge. This knowledge needs not be scientific. It can also be common and even just the facts happened around us. secondly, we need to have a good living environment which is very important and affects a lot. It is obvious that if we lived in a country where wars, floods, droughts, starvation happen frequently, we cannot concentrate ourselves just on our individual life though it is also quite tough. Third, we should always be able to think about the bright size more than the dark size. Finally, we should know when to be satisfied. Most of the people who are not happy is just because they never feel satisfied. They always want more or more perfect. In fact is is themselves who make them unhappy. The only thing we should always remember is that: always keep a good inner state.

AI

Yesterday I watched a movie named "AI" directed by Steven Spielberg in 2001. It is quite a good movie. I was moved by the little robot named David who longs to become "real" so that he can regain the love from his human mother. He believed that the Blue fairy who exited in the fairy tale his mother told him could make him become real. So he tried his best to find Blue fairy with the help of another robot and his toy robot Tady. However, he failed because fairy tale was not true. Finally he found the statue of Blue fairy under the water and prayed to Blue fairy for thousands of years until he was short of charge and was freezed. The astonishing thing is that human beings had extincted after 2000 years. David was waked up by the new masters of Earth who look quite cute and thin. They were quite interested with human beings and surprised by the human culture, technology, and civilization. They got a lot of important information from David about human beings and they wanted to make him happy. So they promised to make his mother alive but only for one day. The reason for that is once an individual space time pass way has been used, it could not be reused. Anyway, David lived one day with his mother without anyone else which became the most happy day of his entire life. The story end with the sleep of David and his mother together. But my thinking has not stopped. I was wondering whether it was possible that the Earth's master is a kind of cycling replacement, which means that every civilization has a cycle. Human beings invented robot and were replaced by robot. Then robot tried bring human beings back and again were replaced by human beings. It is a kind of cycling loop until the end of the day. Although I mentioned robot here, I did not mean that it was definitely robot rather than other creatures. I find it is quite interesting to think like that. But the most interesting issue to me is the word mentioned in the movie that once an individual space time pass way has been used,it could not be reused. It really makes me a kind of confused but also makes me thinks a lot. I really want to know that whether the past can be bring back into present or even future and where is the lost information goes to and becomes what kind of state, energy or mass, or other kind of state which is not found yet. The world is really full of unknown.

Cause and effect

Warning: the desert is expanding
One of the main catalysts for climate change in my home country China is the expansion of deserts. According to report of the Chinese government, China has increasingly had issues with desertification of what was once profitable land in recent years. There are many reasons why the deserts in northern and northwestern China have become larger. But generally we can combine all the reasons into two major reasons, the non-human reason and the human reason.
For the non-human reason, since northern China is in a dry and mid-dry environment, the stability of the ecosystem is very bad. Furthermore, the soil in that area is sandy. The top layer of soil is loose and the vegetation is fragile. So it has a low ability to protect itself from wind erosion. When the weather becomes dry, the surface of the sandy land becomes more active. Especially when there is wind, the circumstance becomes worse. The wind blows the surface of the land and carries sand from far away. The result of these activities is the expansion of the desert and the sparseness of vegetation, which causes more dust storms. The principle behind this result is quite obvious. The wind blows over the sandy land and takes away the surface soil, which mostly is made of sand. Then the sand carried by wind travels to other places and gathers for a certain amount of time. Eventually the land is invaded and occupied by sand and becomes desert after some time. Of course, the plants cannot survive in such a dry and changing environment. They become fewer and fewer, which also makes the desert’s formation faster.
For the human reason, because of the population boom, it is very difficult for the fragile ecosystem to support the huge demand of food, and water. Although the government creates and carries out a lot of policies such as the forbidden of cutting down trees and the prohibition against of depasturing in certain areas, people just do things in their own way. They burn the forests to get more land. They feed animals on grassland without limitation. When the land becomes sandy and not arable, they just give it up and choose another place. Finally, all the land becomes sandy which causes dust storms when the weather is windy. A small desert is formed in that way and these small deserts join together to become one huge desert. A very ironic phenomenon is that the government has planted thousands of trees. But a few years later people in that area cut them down in order to get firewood. At last, all the residents have to move to other places due to the expansion of desert.
As Raven pointed out in his book, “all humans need Earth’s flora, fauna, and microorganism for sustenance, materials, energy, and even the air they breathe”, we must learn to protect it and show our appreciation to it. However, some people still haven’t realized the importance of protecting the environment while they are getting the benefits from nature. They do whatever they want to do to the environment without considering the future and their descendants. That’s why some environmental problems still cannot be solved today. The warnings from nature have come for a long time. It’s high time for us to think together to solve the problems.

rewrite

We should apply different methods to handle the waste for different parts of China since they are in different economy and technology levels. For example, the east and southeast China is much richer than the southwest part of China. In poor areas, people are busy developing economy and do not have enough time to consider their life quality problems such as the handling of waste. They need to put all efforts and different resources to reach the task of economy development. However, in rich areas, people have a lot of money and what they care is not just whether they can earn more money but also how to improve their life by applying the most advanced technology. Then zero waste would be suitable for rich regions and land filling would suits the less advanced areas. Then reason comes from the differences between zero waste and land filling.
Firstly, zero waste is kind of recycling and environmental friendly method. It uses certain technology to turn the waste into new resources which can be used again. However, land filling is just a temperate method which cannot solve problems permanently. As we all know some materials can stay underground for a very long time which can cause problems such as underground water pollution. Land filling just covers the problem and leaves it for future. Secondly, zero waste is possible for any countries like Singapore. But land filling require a certain area to be reserved. Actually when it comes to cities, the reserved land is quite huge since there is a huge amount of waste everyday. So zero waste is more flexible. Finally, we need to concern about the problem of money and technology. Not every country has the financial and technological support. So for this aspect, land filling seems can be applied for any poor country once there is enough land.

Save the Przewalski's Gazelle

There are only 300 przewalski's gazelles in the world, according to the stastics from experts. And there is no man-raised population which means that once the wild population die out,and then this special species will disappear from earth forever.

Nowdays we can only find przewalski's gazelles in the Qinghai lakeside in Qinghai altiplano. However, przewalski's gazelles existed widely in China in history before 1980.After that they disappeared from other habitats except the Qinghai Lake. Since they are in a incontinuous separate distribution state, the area they live is as large as 825 square kilometers which is very dangerous for such a species. What make things worth are that the Qinghai Lake is getting smaller and smaller due to nature and human reasons and the challenges posed by the construction of some projects. So far the only way to protect this precious species is by protecting the wild population. The most important thing is to set up protected areas to give them enough living space. We should also negotiate with the local government and the LakeEast rangeland to restrict the enclosure. Just do those things is not enough at all. We must set up man-raised population area to raise them in rangeland and set them free when time is suitable.
Przewalski's gazelles are dying. We must take action faster to protect them. Otherwise, we may cannot see them anymore!

Recycling in China and Singapore

As people gradually realized that the resource of earth is not infinite, they began to find new ways to get resource. After many experimental trys, people find that so far the most effective way is to get resource from what we used before but had thrown away-garbage, which not only solves the problem of how to deal with the garbage, but also gives us what we need. Since this idea was spreaded around the world, every country more or less has began to apply it, either developed countries or developing countries.
Since China is a developing country which is short of different kinds of resources, recycling is more necessary and benefitial. However, although the government emphasizes this idea teeth and nail, waste is still quite common. From the requisition of land, the exploitation of mine and the irrigation to the shining lamplight of emporium day and night and throwing away of food in restaurant, wasting can be saw everywhere and everyday. It seems that saving and recycling are still not highly considered by common residents. To be honest, China is just beginning to recycle.
However, as a developed country, Singapore did quite well in this area in the past. Maybe the domestic situation of resources makes Singaporen realized that as a small country residents, they have no choice but to recycle. So we can see recycling bins everywhere. A lot of cleaners are hired to collect the garbage and clean the city. That's way the city is called "garden city".
Recycling is not an easy job which can be done just by government. It needs everyone's participation and effort if we want a continuable development of our society. Let's unite together and apply recycling to the end.
